custom plasma balls or mod  USB 5V model

I bought this plasma ball 5 years ago, and it's still going strong.
But I wanted it to be way more intense... so, time for a mod!

After doing some research, I found out that a steel-wool-like material and carbon connected to the electrode receive electricity inside to generate the plasma.
That got me thinking. I came up with a hypothesis: what if I just add more carbon, which is a conductive material?
Speaking of carbon, pencil lead is made of graphite (carbon). So, I added some, and it actually worked!

Whoa—the number of plasma streams increased!
Plus, depending on how you touch it, the streams turn thin, sharp, and look just like real lightning.

Disassemble it, cut a tiny bit of the protective vinyl off the tip of the electrode, and extend it a little further out.

There’s a piece of steel wool inside the tip, so take that out.

Scrape a pencil lead with a box cutter to make a fine powder, then mix it with regular liquid glue until it forms a thick paste.

Apply it to the section circled in red on the internal rod.

That’s all it takes to seriously boost the amount of plasma!

I think this also works great as a repair trick if your plasma ball has lost its juice over the years due to wear and tear.

Note: If you apply too much carbon, the conductivity becomes too high, which turns the plasma into lightning-like arcs. This can cause extreme heat and crack the glass. Make sure to add it in small increments and test as you go!
